Killdeer is a city in Dunn County, North Dakota in the United States. The population was 751 at the 2010 census.[1]
Killdeer was founded in 1914 at the end of a Northern Pacific Railway branch line that began in Mandan. The name was taken from the nearby Killdeer Mountains.[4]

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 713 people, 297 households, and 182 families residing in the city. The population density was 752.7 people per square mile (289.8/km²). There were 351 housing units at an average density of 370.6 per square mile (142.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.97% White, 4.91% Native American, 0.14% Asian, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.70% of the population.
There were 297 households out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.8% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.4% were non-families. 36.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 25.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 82.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $32,750, and the median income for a family was $40,341. Males had a median income of $34,583 versus $20,208 for females.
